Off the clock, my world revolves around family, endurance running, watching TV and giving back to the ultra community that keeps me grounded.

And in case you were wondering about this site name … in Australian slang, “Sandgroper” is a lighthearted regional demonym used to describe a person born in or living in Western Australia

What I Do

Running

Although I ran casually in my teens, I didn't truly embrace the sport until approaching my 40th birthday. Since taking that leap, I’ve completed multiple marathons and more than 60 ultramarathons.

AUTRA

My passion for endurance running naturally led me to AUTRA. It started in 2015 with preparing race results for the quarterly magazine. I went on to serve as Treasurer in 2017 and VP in 2018/19. I've been in the background since then assisting with IT and membership management, and in 2026, I was honoured to be named an AUTRA Life Member.

DUV Statistician

As my involvement with ultra running grew, I began contributing to the DUV Ultra Marathon Statistics database, the premier global repository for race results. For many years, I’ve curated and logged race data across Australia and New Zealand, helping preserve the history and records of our regional ultra scene.

Work

My career in IT started back in 1994, taking me across diverse industries throughout Australia and overseas. I begain as as a Unix Systems Administrator and am now a Senior Solution Architect, helping companies across the globe migrate and run their database workloads in 'the cloud'
